Asian Baby Clothes

Me and my mom went out to get few things for the soon to be born my baby girl.. she said asian newborns are bigger and that the sizes for baby clothes such as carter's are based on majority race in the state.. which are... Caucasians.. she suggested for me to get size 3 months and just skip the newborn size.. ( carter's clothes run newborn-3 months-6months and beyond) hmmm and of course i already went crazy with newborn sizes... should i return all of the newborn sizes?? are asian babies bigger when born?? my mom said its OKAY for the baby to wear clothes slightly bigger that way they eventually grow into it.. save more money and more comfpy for the baby??? what should i do? exchange my newborn size to bigger sizes??
btw newborn size and 3 months clothes at carters have huge difference...

Well, I can't say for certain is asian babies are bigger. My baby are huge when their born so we don't even bother with newborn clothing. I am caucasian. Just to play it safe I always buy clothing that is 3 months and skip newborn. You never know what kind of baby will come out and how big. My last baby was 10.3lb so he never wore newborn clothes. I wouldn't exchange all of the newborn sizes. I would give both if you're giving lots of clothes. If this is a first baby, it's possible that the baby will fit in the newborn sizes. I also wouldn't hesitate to give the mom the gift receipt and leave the option open to exchange them if they like. I do that as well when I give clothing to babies. I am very picky about baby clothes so it's nice to have that options when people give me clothes for my babies.

What I mean is if there are a lot of babies out there this size, then why don't these clothes have a correct sizing?
Or do these manufacturers use Asian standard or something?

my baby is one year old. he still wears a 6 months old clothes! everything i buy him is for the age of 6 month or 9 the most!
is that normal? btw, i'm not Asian or short. i'm 5'5 and his dad is like 5'8. BUT, my husband's family side are ALL short.

My nephew was a preemie and was wearing 6-9 months at 1 year. He's 4 now and having a growth spurt, so you just never know.

I'm the mom of b/g twins and was worried that my son would grow up to be small, but he started having a real growth spurt around 2nd or 3rd grade. He's no longer one of the smallest boys in his grade, quite average in fact.

I'm one of those people that doesn't see color or race as an issue in a relationship, or in any circumstance really. My fiance is Korean and we just had a baby girl, and I've always like komonos and asian dresses and things like that, but you don't see too many white people or black people dress in asian clothing. Do you think asians would get offended? Do you think I would be called 'fake' or 'poser'??

Hell no, don't be stupid. Did you see after the Super Bowl when Hines Ward went to Korea with his Korean mother? They welcomed him as one of their own. It was very touching after hearing all the hard times he went through growing up in Korea as a half-black half-korean boy, and a product of the war. I think asian people are very understanding and would welcome you and your baby girl into their culture.

My wife is of Asian decent. She's petite, weighs 41 kilograms and wears size 6 clothing. I'm of Anglo-Saxon decent, I'm 180cm tall and I have a large frame. I suspect our baby will be 'my size'. Does that mean my wife will need to have a cesarean birth?

Not necessarily, a small frame does not mean that her body can not deliver a large baby. A woman's body is programmed to give birth.
