I'm a pretty skilled sewer I've mad pajamas and baby clothes among other things. This year my mom informed me that I would be making my school clothes I'm really excited about it. I have a unique sense of style I would call it a mix between Rainbow Bright, goth/punk (occasionally) hippie, Humboldt hunny (If your familiar with the term) and casual (T-Shirt and blue jeans) links to patterns or a site I can order patterns from.

It's lots of fun to go to your local fabric store and page through the pattern books. It's also cheaper than buying online, because patterns are always on sale. Then you can pick out your fabrics at the same time.

i guess in the uk its called miltons. it is like a tablet that u make into water to sterlise bottles and baby gear.

yea there is a sterilizing fluid called milton, you can also get it in sprays, and tablets that you dissolve. i have the tablets. all i can say, is make sure you use the correct amount of water, as i didn't one time, and i nearly choked on the fumes that were let off! (fluid is probably far easier! :)

I was about to start washing the baby's clothes with Dreft, and I bought perfume free, dye free fabric softener sheets. I came on here to see if anyone had any recommendations of liquid perfume free, dye free liquid fabric softeners and then I started reading all this stuff about not even using fabric softeners on baby clothes. Does this mean I should not use the perfume free, dye free sheets? Any help would awesome, I am going to be a first time mommy in 6 weeks!

some of these people are saying "don't bother" because their kids didn't have sensitive skin, and that you will know, well i wouldn't want to fine out, and i know you wouldn't either. i bougth the target brand of compare to dreft, and it does great. and yes the fabric softner does take away the clothes flame retardent coating that they have on them, but really to be honest i think that it's only some of the onsies and pjs that have that, and if they do they state it on the tag, but i'm not sure. i use liquid fabric softner, i can't stand dryer sheets. i found this breand at wal mart, called simplicity, and it's hypo-allergetic, dye free, but it does have a scent. very light. and the clothes smell soooo good!! and feel soft. i love the stuff, and it was cheap too. there were 2 diffrerent scents. it has a stuffed bunny on it, so i am assuming that they are trying to market it for babies.

So I'm 7 months pregnant with a little girl, & I already have all the big stuff I need ( crib,stroller,car seat etc) but I'm not sure what clothing I'll need for her. I have quite a few onsies & a couple of sleepers & socks but I"m not sure what else I'll need to buy. I don't want to spend to much since babies grow so fast, but I want to have everything I need. So If somebody could help me out & give me a list of clothes I'll need for the baby during the first few months it would be great.
Oh also what all should I bring to the hospital when I go in labor? I know the car seat & insurance stuff & clothes & all that, but will I need to bring diapers? Baby nail clippers?
Any help would be awesome thanks :)
The reason I asked if I need baby nail clippers is becouse when my aunt had her 3 boys the ppl at the hospital didn't cut there nails she had do it herself.

make sure u have food, i was STARVING, and all they had on hand was an old hard muffin.
~food
~tooth brush and paste
~camera
~change for vendor
~glasses if u wear contacts
~an empty bag for stuff u get
~a pen, lol they didn't have one for me to borrow, lol
~ur health card
~ur baby names, i had a solid girls name, Cali Marie, i thought for sure i was having a girl, and i ended up with a baby boy instead, i told my brothers that they could name him, and he is named Hunter Joseph Ashton Stone ####, i couldnt pick from the names so i picked all of them.
~different sized clothing, i brougth a bag full of newborn baby onesies, thinking i was going to have a 7.5 8lber, but i ended up with a 10lbs 13oz big baby, and his clothing didnt fit, also dont bring ur whole wordrobe, i over did it, and i ended up with 2bags of useless clothing, ~also dont over do the blankets, i used 2, but brought 7,
~i brought a whilte outfit to bring my baby home in, and everyone kept saying 'what a cute little girl', GRRR, lol i changed him FAST.
~panties, i brought my own, the ones they had SUCKED, but make sure they are black so they dont stain
~hair tie
~ask if u can take the pads that are left,
~u wont need a book, there is no time to be bored enough to read
~u wont need nail clippers, u wont be worried about that, u can do that at home during ur quiet time
~make sure that when u go to buy clothing that u buy a few bigger sizes to, cause u will find that if u get all 0-3month clothing u might not have anything to wear on her, cause u cant get to a store etc.

and remember to breath and relax when the contractions start, it works, so does walking to speed it up.
and most importantly, dont push like a princess, LOL, a nurse said that to me, and it was all that i kept thinking about when it was time to push, LOL, and i pushed like a champ, lol 10lbs 13 oz natural, LOL.
of course you will want to bring other stuff, but for me, this is what i needed or didnt need. just remember not to over do it, the hospital has everything,
