hi,
thanks for reading,
I was wondering if there were any musical toys for babies (maybe something they could use starting around age 4-6 months)?
See my husband has such a passion for music (he's in the military but he plays guitar and writes music in his free time). He wants to try and share that with our son from a young age.
So I wanted to get a toy that would possibly have some musical aspect to it and be interactive for our son...
I was considering a leap frog learn and groove toy, perhaps the musical table or guitar?
Background:
My husband and I are 7 months pregnant with our first (its a boy!) and we're both very excited.
The other day my husband came up to me and said, "I know Peanut isn't due until after Christmas, but I was thinking that it'd be nice if we made up alittle Christmas list for him and we could take turns unwrapping the presents. Wouldn't that be fun? I mean, of course we'll still get each other presents but its just another excuse to go shopping for more baby stuff..."
Now, since we both have large families, and the baby shower was last month, we already have pretty much all of the neccessities and then some:
Piles upon piles of receiving blankets, throw blankets, fitted crib sheets
Mountains of clothes; onsies, booties, mittens, sleepers, sized all the way up to year old
Thousands of diapers, hundreds of wipes, tens of tubes of rash cream
Baby bath-tub, bath-toys, baby soaps and baby shampoos
The crib, the car-seat, the bouncer, the swing, the high-chair
Breast-pump, Boppy pillow, bottles, burp cloths, pacifiers, bibs
Even got a college-scholarship started already (like I said, BIG families and a baby shower, lol)
So now that we have all of these neccessities, we want to shop for more fun things and his idea was that each of us buy a baby-toy that we would wrap up for Christmas, and then the other could un-wrap it and be suprised by what the baby got. Thats why I'm looking for a musical type toy, to suprise my husband.
Any suggestions???
Hello,
Wow, it sounds like you have a lot of change and excitement coming up in your family. You must be very very happy.
Congratulations.
If you are interested in toys, I would suggest the following site:
http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=81139& amp;U=272547&M=12666
It's a fun site, and they have great stuff for both babies and kids and really good customer service. I'm sure you can find a lot of things there for your new little one.
Good Luck & again, Congratulations!
Jessica

My husband and I have been trying sense last year for a 2nd baby. Our first son Henry will be turning 2 very soon and we had preferred their ages bee between 2 and 4 years difference.
So we started trying. It took over a year (very happy now that we started trying early) and success! I found out about 2 months ago, and I've already got to see the baby! YaY *dances around the room happily for a minute or two*
Now the worry sets in however. What is it rely like to have 2 instead of just one? Is it that much more difficult? I am a stay at home mom, I can handle this right?
Well I figured it out, Henry will be 2 1/2 almost precisely when we have our next baby. My husband does have to work a lot because he is our only income, so it will be up to me to try to hold up the house and kids.
Any advice though? I still have many of the old baby things from Henry, the car seat, toys, clothes... but how do I prepare? Not just the house, my husband and myself but our son? Ill be breastfeeding again... will all that attention to the baby cause jealously?
Dear god what if I have a girl this time?! I cant stand girls. Not that I wouldn't love her to pieces, but handling a little pink thing... that doesn't want to go out and get dirty in the mud... that wants barbies instead of trucks... princesses instead of frogs... Ill just go insane!
I'm driving myself crazy now questioning everything. Anyone with any advice for me on how to prepare for this and how much of a difference it will be?
Thanks for all your advice, comments and story's in advance! <3
I dont have two of my own. I am however the second child. When my mom was pregnant with me my brother was super excited. She was a stay at home mom and on top of that my brother has asthma really bad. So she was cleaning all the time. But my brother wanted someone to play with. When I came along he was upset I was a girl and mad at me and my mom. But not for long. Your afraid of a prissy little girl. Not all girls are like that. I was more a boy than my brother, dirt, frogs, snakes, the crazy boy stuff comes along with having a big brother. My daughter is exactly like me. And she has no big brother. Don't worry, it will just drive you crazy.

Some of the things our 12 mth baby girl does either make our jaws drop or have us in stitches.
She sweeps up, loads the washing machine ( with the clean dry washing i've just ironed) shuts the washers door & turns the dial then stands them humphing with hands on hips before taking the clothes out, throwing them on the floor & putting more clean clothes in.She recently put my boots on her feet & tries to put her shoes on my feet, she checks her hair in the mirror & even strips off for the bath before i've started running it lol.
She is mad as a box of frogs & we love her to bits, sorry i spend so much time fretting about her i thought i'd share how much she brightens up our lives too.
Now tell me how your lil one makes your day a happy one...
Thats good pris, our lil girl didn't laugh until 5 mths, its silly to think we were worried she was slow in developing.
Meliss- thats so cute, jasmin tries to brush my hair too with the back of the brush mostly lol. Although i don't want her to be a baby forever, the more she grows the more wonderful she seems, but may change my mind when she's a moody teen lol
Princess- the crawling is v cute, i remember putting jasmin on all fours & she'd rock back & forth trying to move & eventually collapsing in a heap, she go there in the end lol
& when they show all their teeth when they smile all goofy melts your heart.
aww your baby sounds soooo cute, i have three (and my forth on the way) and wow my daughter who's almost 1 is called Jasmin too - and her name is also spelt wih no 'e' on the end!!!!
All three of my children do the cutest, funniest things, my eldest (who's 7) makes me laugh so much, she comes out with the funniest things, trying to be all grown up, she trys to talk to her friends how she hears me talking to mine and probably the sweetest thing she does is when she gets excited about the new things her brother and sister do, she'll come running in saying "mummy mummy Jasmin just clapped her hands three times, it was soooo cute" and i just melt at the thought she's so proud of her sister!!!!
My son who's three is such a character, a right cheeky monkey and gosh he is just soooooooooo funny!!! the things he says and does are just lovely, he always says to me "i love you this much" (holding his hand out really wide) he also answers the phone within a second of it ringing saying "hello, what's your name?" and i love the way he thinks people on the end of the phone can see him, he was talking to his dad today and said "i drew this picture today ...see" and held his picture up to the phone - awwww
my youngest daughter is 1 in 2-weeks and she's really starting to show her character now, she loves to say "no" to everything whilst shaking her head, when i say "do you want to sing songs" she starts going "ro ro ro ro ro" and rocks back and forth (so i sing row row your boat) she dances to any slight bit of music, on adverts, her toys or even her sister or brothers singing, she stands up and starts bopping and wriggling her arms.... gosh they are all just sooo cute, i can't wait to meet my forth (due 5th march)
wow i'm sorry to go on and on and on...they are just sooo cute (but can definately be little pickles when they want to be)
you sound like a lovely mum and your daughter seems adorable!!!

What drives parents to dress their babies and toddlers in clothing that has animal ears, paws, tails, etc?
Would they have preferred to have taken in a pet, and unfortunately (in their eyes), got a human?
Or is there something more sinister going on here?
Does it harm the child's psyche to be dressed as pseudo rabbits/dogs/cats/bears/frogs/mice?
It seema odd that the parents cannot accept the child as a human, but feel a need or desire to 'camouflage' it as another species.
After all, we do not see adults walking around normally wearing animal ears, paws, tails, wings, etc.
Perhaps the parents have not fully developed a sense of maturity, or not outgrown their own childhood, and are 'playing dolly/animal'?

I take it that you have no kids...... I've never dressed my daughter up in those kinds of costumes, but I personally think that they are adorable when dressed up in those costumes.
They look playful to me.
Why would it hurt they're psyche? If they were attacked by an animal such as these, then yeah, I can see that happening, but they're too young to think at such a level.
Loosen up dude...get a g/f
Okay, so I was at Wal-Mart today, and I was passing the baby section and I saw a mother and her daughter there. The daughter looked like she was about16 or 17 and she was pregnant. I stoped to look at the nail polish on the rack. The baby section and cosmetics section are right beside eachother btw. I saw the daughter pick up a red onesie and ask her mom "What do you think of this one?". The mom looked at it and went balistic. She was saying stuff like: "If you wouldnt have just kept your friggin legs closed then we wouldnt be here shopping for goddamn baby clothes!" People were starting to stare at them, and for some reason I got mad (Im 14). I went over to a rack and grabbed a green onesie with frogs on it and went over to the mom and daughter. I looked at the daughter and said "I think that this one is really cute". She gave me a small smile and the mom gave me the evil eye. After that, I went back to the nail polish.
Do you think I did the right thing? Or was I being too nosy?
YOWZA!!! You have got the guts to act when you feel strongly about something, just like me!!
YOU GO GIRL!!!!
Fabulous!!!!!
