Winter Baby Dress

I'm due in February with my second baby, I had my first in the summer so I wasn't that concerned with keeping him warm. Having a baby in the winter is totally different! I'm getting one of those Bundle Me things you attach to the carseat, but do I get like a newborn snowsuit? What did you dress you winter baby in to go home from the hospital?
It can be anywhere from 0 degress to 40 degrees in the winter where I live.

Are child was born in December in we used the JJ Cole bundle me cover for her carseat. We put her in a warm sleeper and would put a hat on her and close up the bundle me cover. We'd put a very thick blanket over her carseat handle so it drapped down over her and we'd carry her to and from the car like that. Always be sure to warm up the car first. When we put her in the car we'd take off the blanket and unzip the bundle me cover. After the car was moving and completely warm, we'd take off her hat. She was fine like that. Don't bundle them up too much. They can get overheated quickly. I was always told to use layers and remove as it gets warmer. If you are cold, they are probably cold and if you're warm, so are they.

When we ride in the car for more than 30 min he starts sweating. and then gets all wet. But if he is not warm enough Im affraid he'll catch a cold.

I actually just saw on the news not long ago that you shouldn't put a thick jacket on your baby and then put them in the car seat, there are safety issues. They said that you should dress them warmly without a thick jacket and put a heavy blanket on them, also that way if he starts to sweat you can easily pull the blanket off. Happy Holidays!

Most books, brochures, and web sites mention that babies are released from hospitals in receiving blankets. However, it is not clear how to secure baby in the car seat with 5-point harness if he/she is blanketed? We live in SF and expect to bring our baby home in January. Thank you very much!

We wrapped our baby in the receiving blanket. As you leave the hospital you have the option of having your wife hold the baby as she's wheeled out...or you can strap the baby in the car seat and put it on the wheel chair handles.. You can take another blanket and cover the entire car seat so when you transfer the baby to the car, he/she is protected from the weather. Usually, the other person (father, friend, etc) can pull the car right up to the door.

I will be moving to SF in Jan 09 with 4month old baby and 2yr old toddler. It will be my first time having to dress my kids in winter. I hear that it does not get too cold during winter i.e. it doesn't snow, but I am curious how mothers dress their baby and toddler when they're a) at home, b) going out and c) bedtime. Would love to have some ideas from mums living in SF or near there. Thanks!
Also if you are able to recommend good online places I can buy the outfits from, that would be great!
I am from Singapore, where it is hot humid 365 days a year. Do you have children? Any advice?

I use to live near san fran and i remeber in the winter time walking to school i rarely need a jacket just a sweater, where are you originally from?

2 cotton bodysuits 1 pajama or 1 bodysuit full sleeve and one fleece overall,wrapped up and blankie on with room temperature 70-72.Which is more appropriate.How did u dress your baby in winter.

wow u over dressing your baby just with a pajama (a whole pj with the zipper or buttons) and a under shirt like a tee (gerber has them) and wrap her in a blankie the thin ones i have 3kids i use to over due it with my 1st she end up with heat bumps...u dont want the baby to be too tight and not be able to strech..also i was told that if you are hot the baby is to if you are cold so is the baby..maybe is a myth but everyone is different...also you can have pjs that dont have footsies just but socks on u dont have to over due it hope this helps
