In the homes of my Catholic friends I used to see sometimes a beautifully-dressed Infant of Prague statue.
I was a child then, and I wonder if people still have them.
Also, where did this image of the toddler Jesus originate? Was it an image in a church?
I display the Infant of Prague in my residence. I found this on the website http://www.pragjesu.info/en/history_infa nt_jesus.htm
History of the Infant Jesus of Prague
The Infant Jesus of Prague originally came from Spain. The legend tells that the Infant Jesus appeared miraculously to a certain monk, who modelled the statue based on the appearance of the apparition. According to another legend the statue belonged to St. Teresa of Avila, the founder of the Discalced Carmelites, who was aflame with a great love for the Child Jesus. She is said to have given the statue to a friend of hers, whose daughter was setting out to travel to Prague.
When the Duchess Maria Manrique de Lara came to Bohemia to marry a Bohemian nobleman in 1556, she received the statue from her mother as a wedding gift. When her daughter Polyxena of Lobkowicz was widowed, she gave the precious statue to the monastery of the Discalced Carmelites attached to the church of Our Lady of Victory in 1628.
The Carmelites placed the statue in the novitiate chapel, so that the young monks could learn from the virtues of the Child Jesus. At that time the Thirty Years' War was raging through Europe and even the Infant Jesus was not spared when the Saxon army occupied Prague in 1631. It was only after his return to Prague in 1637 that Father Cyril of the Mother of God, originally from Luxemburg, discovered the statue, abandoned in a corner. To his sorrow, however, he found that the Infant Jesus had had both hands broken off. At this moment it seemed to him that the Infant Jesus was saying to him:
Have mercy on me and I will have mercy on you.
Give me hands and I will give you peace.
The more you honour me, the more I will bless you.
Eventually Father Cyril had new hands made for the Infant Jesus. The gold coin invested in this was returned many times over, as the Child Jesus began to bless the monastery, the local people, and the whole of Prague. Miraculous healings were attributed to him, as was the protection of Prague when it was laid siege to by the Swedes in 1639. In 1651 the statue was carried as a pilgrim round all the churches in Prague and in 1655 it was solemnly crowned by the Bishop of Prague. This event is still remembered today on the anniversary feast-day, falling on the first Sunday in May."
I have been involved with the Discalced Carmelites and they are wonderful. I hope this helps you. :)

I have a three-year-old boys, and I hit every store in town trying to find dress clothes for church.
Every store I hit had dress clothes and shoes for infant girls and boys, toddler girls, older boys and girls, and adults of both genders.
Eventually, I found one dress outfit, but then I wasn't able to find dress shoes.
What gives? Do they think toddler boys don't need clothes? It's highly likely they need them more than any other age group.
Anyone else noticed this?
I have had the same problem for about 2 year now. It does get really old really quick. Trying to find clothes for my 3 and 4 year old boys can be a chore!
The best places I have found to find them clothes are the Outlet stores. Not only do they have lots of toddler boys' clothes, there is an actual variety of colors and styles. My personal favorites are the Osh Kosh outlet and the Old Navy outlet.
I am not sure why most places have such a limited selection of boys clothes, but I have actually asked on certain occasions and been told that the "don't sell as well as girls clothes." I wonder why?? The girls clothes sell better because there are more of them to choose from.
My only advice is to find a store or two that has a good assortment of boys clothes and only shop there. Fortunately, it does get better when they get older.

Question 1:
-40 for pictures of Jesus/Saints/Crucifixes.
Reasons it's nuts: This is one of the more valid questions here, however, every Catholic here knows how to shoot down the idolatry charge.

A. Active fornicators,
B. Divorced and remarried
C. Homosexuals/Bisexuals
D. All of the above

Question 3:
A. Potluck dinners, easter egg hunts, Secret Santa, trick or treat, bingo nights, other social events.

A. Women
B. Homosexuals/Bisexuals
C. Married and Divorced
D. Individuals in sex scandals.
E. Man with one wife, or celibate.

A. Sunday School
B. Youth Groups
C. Adult/Men's/Women's Groups.

B. Many only come to Christmas and Easter

Question 10: Alcoholics, railors (whatever that means) extortioners, prostitute-frequenters.
A. Openly Welcome
B. Full Members
C. My Church does not identify people by what they do.

Question 11: Hair practices
A. Anything goes.
B. Women have long hair, men have short hair, women's heads are covered in Church.
Result: Most of the Catholics I've seen conform to the first two, and I think the Church still recommends that women cover their hair. I would also go into context regarding 1 Cor 11, but it's not worth the effort. N/A

I read this story in my local paper and was very surprised. I consider myself a strong woman, and I like to read about other independent women with clear goals but this just seems so surreal to me. I can't make up my mind as to weather or not I like this woman or if she will make a good mom. Part of me is really cheering for her, and the other part is wondering if society is going to far with feminism and that we may be making men obsolete. Can that really be a good thing? What do you think of this woman? Can she make a good mom? Is she to young to have made this choice?
“Sara Hartline has been an outgoing, independent woman her whole adult life. As a Business major in college she never thought her life would turn out the way it has. ‘In college when I spent more time day dreaming about what my life would be like after I got out then I did actually living my life in the present I never would have thought I would be a single mom, especially not by my own choice! I imagined that I would find a great guy who supported my ambition, get married in a small church with a big white dress, and have 2.5 kids, a golden retriever, white picket fence and all. Then I got out on my own and none of that happened, I just couldn’t see myself waiting around for it to.’ So at age the age of twenty six Sara decided that she didn’t need a husband or any man for that matter to make her what she wanted to be more than anything else, a mom. So she sent in an application to an out of state adoption agency that accepted singles and after some pre-adoption counseling went ahead with adopting an infant from Kazakhstan. Ten months later Sara was the new mother of a beautiful babbling twelve month old baby girl. ‘Adopting Jaden was the most complicated, exhausting, thrilling, amazing, horrible, wonderful thing I have ever done and my world would be a darker place without her.’
Two years later Jaden is a bright well adjusted three year old who like most little girls wants to do everything just like mommy. But she will soon have to share mommy, because in less than a month Sara is expected to deliver her a little brother. As crazy as it may sound for a single woman to want to raise two children on her own, Sara says she knows she can do it because of the confidence she has gained being a great mother to her daughter. ‘After Jaden got settled into life with a family I knew I wanted to give her a sibling and I also knew that I wasn’t getting any younger. It was well worth the money I had to spend to adopt Jaden but I just couldn’t afford it again, getting a sperm donor was a hundred times cheaper than adoption.’ Ms. Hartline truly is an independent woman; she is a wonderful example to all women that not only do you not need a man to be happy you also don’t need one to have a family.”

Are you tolling here?
This is not feminism going to far! It's a woman deciding to do something. Men can adopt if he passes the qualifications, ok he may not be able to have a bio child on his own but he could get a surrogate mom and use his own sperm, sort of like the woman needing the man's sperm.
The thing is women as a group are NEVER all going to think the same way most women will choose men as men have qualities to give children. Also children of single parents have disadvantages but if it's her choice that's fine, also some children take aggression out on their single mother because self esteem issues can ensue from missing a father/mother.
This is just media rhetoric you're falling for, sounds like it came from the NYtimes. Men will never be obsolete just like women won't I just think men are more honest about or needing women that's all.
