Baby Clothes Newborn

I have heard that there are services that you can rent newborn baby clothes, and due to them growing so quickly that this is a viable option.

If you don't rent now would you be attracted to this type of service? What would be the pro's and con's?

Doing some reasearch, and your answers and thoughts are appreciated!

I find that unappealing on several levels, but I'll answer it from a business perspective.

Lessee- will never get their 'deposit' back because it would be rare to return all clothing in the same condition it was rented.

Leassor- will have constant outflow of cash with minimal inflow because of the above- clothing can never to rarely be returned in new condition! Even consignment shops only take a fraction of what people bring them for consideration.

I just wondered whether it is common to wash and iron new clothes for a newborn baby before the baby wears them for the first time? All the women in my country do that but to me it seems pointless if the clothes are brand new. They say a baby needs a sterile environment in the first weeks of his life, but to me it just seems like a bit too anxious behaviour.

I'm 7mnths pregnant and started putting my babies clothes in her draws. I noticed that 98% of the onesies are newborn size..So im a little worried cause I know everyone says to buy clothes bigger BUT aren't newborn sizes up to 8pds? And they make newborn n 3mnth sizes for a reason, right? So did your baby wear newborns at all or even at least one month???

nope my baby was born 8 lbs and he fit jus right in premies... newborn were big on him.

i know this, believe it or not babies grow quite rapidly up to 6 months old. so i would suggest buying a few pairs. make sure they are loose but not big as you do not want your child to look like he's drowning in a pool of yarn. hehe. good luck picking out the clothes. have fun!

I know there is special baby detergent to use, but I was wondering if it was safe to use dryer sheets. Does anyone know if you should or shouldn't use the sheets in the dryer? I am expecting my first baby in about 4 weeks!

Do not use dryer sheets with your babies clothes. It is entirely unnecessary to use them at all! There is no need for extra chemicals or perfumes on the baby's clothes. If you think that the clothes will not be soft enough add vinegar to the rinse (it is a natural fabric softener and will not leave your clothes smelly!) or buy dryer balls (I use some from Nellies). Also, don't bother using Dreft or Ivory Snow "special baby detergent" all of them contain perfumes which can be irritating to babies nose and skin. Use a scent, dye and enzyme free detergent on all of your household's laundry. Your baby will be in very close contact with all of your clothing too!
