Clothes For Newborn Babies

i'd like to know where, all you mothers bought newborn baby clothes from...Ive already started shopping for my baby, and i bought sleepsuits and vests from marks&spencer and some cute white outfits from GAP, but where would you recommend, in regards of quality and price? I live in the UK.

don't spend too much on clothes yet as your baby will grow out of them really quickly next has some really good quality baby wear but i would wait till you baby is a little older and everyone will be able to see the clothes that he/she will be wearing as younger babies are always tucked away in their baskets wrapped up in a baby shawl.
you will need bodysuits rather than vests and m&s is good if you find any in the sale otherwise primark and boots are good. for sleepsuits again primark or boots and do buy a bit bigger sizes as they will last longer

I just wondered whether it is common to wash and iron new clothes for a newborn baby before the baby wears them for the first time? All the women in my country do that but to me it seems pointless if the clothes are brand new. They say a baby needs a sterile environment in the first weeks of his life, but to me it just seems like a bit too anxious behaviour.

i know this, believe it or not babies grow quite rapidly up to 6 months old. so i would suggest buying a few pairs. make sure they are loose but not big as you do not want your child to look like he's drowning in a pool of yarn. hehe. good luck picking out the clothes. have fun!

I know there is special baby detergent to use, but I was wondering if it was safe to use dryer sheets. Does anyone know if you should or shouldn't use the sheets in the dryer? I am expecting my first baby in about 4 weeks!

Do not use dryer sheets with your babies clothes. It is entirely unnecessary to use them at all! There is no need for extra chemicals or perfumes on the baby's clothes. If you think that the clothes will not be soft enough add vinegar to the rinse (it is a natural fabric softener and will not leave your clothes smelly!) or buy dryer balls (I use some from Nellies). Also, don't bother using Dreft or Ivory Snow "special baby detergent" all of them contain perfumes which can be irritating to babies nose and skin. Use a scent, dye and enzyme free detergent on all of your household's laundry. Your baby will be in very close contact with all of your clothing too!
