my girlfriend left me to do laundry today and i dont know how to wash the baby's clothes. What temperature and speed and cycle or whatever do i use to wash his clothes?
do the baby's stuff separate. no fabric softener. only a bit of detergent. try and use unscented.
because the baby's skin is sensitive, sometimes the perfumes in detergent and softener can cause them eczema.

I wash my clothes in Tide is that okay or for some reason does it have to be Dreft. I washed my first daughter's clothes in Dreft for the first few months and after that washed it with regular Tide. Does it really matter?
Some babies skin is sensitive to the detergent. Dreft is milder and rinses out of the clothes better so that the clothes do not irritate the skin.

I am 32 weeks and wanted to start washing my newborns clothes. Do you think its too eary to wash them even though I still have 7 more weeks left before she arrives?
To Michua: Its called Dreft. =)
I also washed all of my son's clothes up when I was 30 weeks, and kept them all in zip-up bags so no dust could get on them. When he was born at 41 weeks, all I had to do was pack them into drawers!
Good luck and congrats! <3

It is true you have to wash newborn clothes and sheets before wearing. If so how long do you have to do that?
You should wash them for several reasons.
~to remove chemicals used in the manufacturing process
~to remove any dirt/germs from the people handling the clothing during manufacturing/packaging
~to remove any dirt/germs from the stockroom and stockroom employees
~to remove any dirt/germs from people handling it in the store (employees and shoppers)
~to remove any dirt/germs from someone who tried it on
~to remove excess dyes that can leach onto the babies skin and/or irritate it
~to remove and dirt/germs left behind by bugs. After all, clothing is built in factories, which are not exactly known for being clean
I am definitely not a clean freak, I never sterilized my babies toys or things like that, but even I wash all clothing and linens before using them, even if they're for me.
I don't/didn't use Dreft, it's super expensive and not necessary. I just used a dye and fragrance free detergent and put the setting on for a double rinse.

New Mom Secrets: I Don't Wash New Outfits: Baby Daily Buzz - CafeMom
There is a reason that ALL baby aparel is marked 'wash before wear'. Companies coat new clothing in chemicals (like fermaldahyde) to keep them fresh and looking neat while they wait for you to purchase them. Wearing without washing puts those chemicals directly into baby because they absorb quickly through the skin. This certainly CAN cause a reaction.
I think that sometimes when you have an emergency (like total poop blowout) and have nothing on hand putting on something new to wear for the next little bit until you get home is probably fine. But I just can't imagine having the time to wash it and not...
Sometimes you just can't help but not wash them before wearing. We all get that there are reasons to wash first but sometimes you forget a change of clothes or you think your SO brought them and there are none. Things happen.
