What's the difference between a newborn and infant? Is it basically just the ages?

Does a four month old wear 3-6 month old clothing or 6-9 month (double their age?)

I'm just trying to figure out what sizes I'll need for summer/winter. He's due Feb 28 lol but my aunt is going shopping soon and loves buying baby clothes. (Not complaining one bit, mind you!)

A newborn is exactly that - a baby that is newly born. I would say that a baby that is older than around 3 months is officially an infant and not a newborn. As for clothing, I would rely more on the weight/height measurements on the clothes, rather than the month measurements. Different brands go by different measurements, and I wouldn't say that all babies that are 3-6 months old will be wearing 6-9 month old clothes. My son was wearing 6 month clothing at around 4 months, and started wearing 9 month sizes at around 7 months.

Definately and with a Non Bio detergent,

Who knows what chemicals the material may have been treated with before packaging and who may have handled them during manufacture.

I know that's a repeated & boring question, but am expecting a baby girl in 10 days or so.. & I bought her 8 infant outfits(all footed bodysuits)since she'll be a winter baby, plus 21 (0-3 months) different outfits..most of them two pieces.
Do you think this is too much for a newborn, Did i overdo clothes shoping for her? or is this just the norm??
P.S. my baby weighed 6lb 9 oz 10 days ago.. PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ help me...ASAP, cuz if it's too much clothes.. gotta go return some back before i get into labor:)

You probably only need 6 of the footed bodysuits in the newborn size if you are doing laundry every at least 2-3 days. Then get another 6 in the next size. The 21 outfits are too many, change that to 4-5 outfits of each size progressing from newborn on. Don't cut any tags off of any outfits except for the ones that you are using immediately and save those receipts. That way you can still return or exchange them if the seasons change before she is able to wear them. Those ultrasound baby weights aren't real accurate, but they do grow the fastest during the first 6 weeks and many babies cannot use 0-3 months after that.

My neice is a few days short of 4 months, and she is only 10 pounds. Do I buy newborn clothes? Or do I buy the 0-6 month size? What diaper? I see the newborn sizes go up to 10 lbs. usually, or should I get size one to be safe? My employer has given me paid leave for one month due to thie extenuating circumstance to "figure this all out". And I'm still lost. How much clothing does a baby need in their wardrobe? I've been to the Carters outlet and spent close to $300 on receiving blankets, burp cloths, towels, booties, 0-3 month clothes (figured I couldn't go wrong there) and baby items like wipes, diapers and lotions, wash, etc etc. What else do I need?

Hello!! People the time off work is due to the legal issues surrounding the adoption of my niece and finding childcare so I can return to work. Not just to find baby accoutrements. That's silly.

The clothes you already bought should be wearable for a little while, but you should probably buy 3-6M size. As far as how many, it depends on how often you want to do wash. I'm a baby clothes addict so my kids had nearly enough to wear a different outfit for the first 3 months of their life!! Onesies are important but I can't say I ever used receiving blankets for anything more than something to change the baby on.

Diapers I'd say a size 1, although most brands are NOT the same size so you need to experiment.

As far as other things you need, I'd invest in a bouncy seat which will be invaluable to you for the next 6 months or so, but as far as the basics go you seem like you pretty much have everything covered.

You might want to buy some baby Tylenol and gas medicine to keep on hand as well, and a baby bathtub or sling to put in the big tub. You might choose to get the book "What to expect the first year" too - very informative.
